About the Item
Original signed oil on board painting of Long Lake in Sierra Nevada by Marion Wachtel. Probably painted in early 1900's In original frame. Should be reframed. Piece appears to have been cleaned semi recently. Marion Wachtel trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and under William Merritt Chase in New York. She was a member of the New York Watercolor Club. Later, she taught in public schools and at the Art Institute of Chicago.
She is a recognized and Landscape painter collected by many museums and private collections, notably including Jane Fonda.
