About the Item
Earl Daniels (1920-1999), California painter of landscapes, seascapes, coastal scenes, still- lives and abstracts, was born in New York City where he worked both as a commercial artist and jazz musician. In the early 1940s he settled in Laguna Beach, California. It was there that he became a very active painter of landscapes and seascapes. He spent many years teaching and lecturing the surrounding Southern California art community. Daniels' works have been exhibited nationally, and throughout California. In 1963 the late President Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy commissioned him to paint a piece for their personal collection. From 1960s-mid-1970s, Daniels branched into the abstract expressionism of the era. Very limited works in this style are available from his, but those that do invoke a very strong gestural signature. This original piece titled “Motion” by the artist present brush strokes, colors and a feel that permeate with the power of color. Incredible art piece that complements midcentury styles. Measures: Frame (24.5” x 28.5”), canvas 16”x20”.
