In Snowman, Natalie Steer continues her exploration of gesture, materiality and emotional suggestion — a language she has developed through her ongoing interest in the expressive potential of oil paint. Steer’s work often hovers between abstraction and figuration, using loosely formed shapes and instinctive mark-making to evoke characters, moods or moments without fixing them in a literal narrative. Her surfaces are built slowly and intuitively, creating paintings that feel intimate, raw and deeply personal.
