About the Item
Impressive Danish painted folk art tape loom, also known as a heddle or band loom. It is a traditional tool used for weaving narrow bands of fabric, such as belts, straps, or decorative trim. The loom is a hand-carved wooden tool, and they were sometimes given as courting gifts from men to women. The heddle has a series of slots and holes that hold the warp threads, which are the threads that run the length of the woven piece. The loom is often held between the knees or attached to a stick held in place by a band around the weaver's back to create tension.
Wonderful piece to add to an existing collection.
