About the Item
Early 19th century walnut blanket or quilt rack from England.
The tops of each of the legs are decorated with hand turned finials, following down to elegantly hand turned legs, joined by flat splats, on which to support folded blankets or quilts when not in use. The two panels are joined together in the center by hinges, for easy opening and closing.
The splats are joined to the legs by mortice and tenon joinery. This is a lovely piece which is still as useful today as it was in the early 19th century.
