About the Item
Rare 19th century American Quilt perhaps a unique design. The obvious Navajo influence of the Red Cross symbolizing the Spider Woman is unquestionable. They're being 13 crosses also ties in to the belief of the Navajo that the number 13 was lucky. Not to say that this was created by the Navajo although it could have been. But instead that it this 19th century quilt is deeply influenced by the work of the Navajo.
Another aspect of this quilt that is extremely interesting is that the edges are closed with a whip stitch, much like the stitching used on the edges of Navajo weaving. This quilt is an excellent condition and is of spring summer weight and can be used.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. The condition of this quilt is exceptional. The whites are very clean. There are maybe one or two tiny little spots that probably with a delicate hand could be removed.
