The Banksy of Rugs Antique Kerman Lavar Signed Piece, Cool Story About: Talk about a story... Originally when I brought this piece into our collection I examined it and right away noticed it was a Portrait weaving of an Armed Official / Person but something was odd. Inspecting the back verified that at some point a weaver or repair person Removed the knots that made this person's face and Rewove wool in to make this person a No Name person, in other words to blur out his face. But Why? It must have been because this weaver didn't agree with War, or the political or diplomatic decisions/actions this person or this military has taken, took, or their beliefs etc. It is basically the Rug World's Banksy! This is sort of like graffiti but instead of it coming off like vandalism, it is more like taking a stand for their personal moral code - hence removing the face and arms on the coat to not promote or extend whatever stand this person or coalition stood for - Amazing Stuff! Size: 2 x 2.9 Age: Antique, C. 1920-30's Pile: Low with age-related wear and lovely patina throughout. Read below about the potential weaver's edit from the original piece This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one in the world, no others are available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects. Always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding. This rug is also available with a custom cut pad (sold separately).
