This hand-knotted Mudjur rug features deep reds similar to wine red colors. Motis of flowers and garlands are depicted in collums, encapsulated in a creme border depicting what appears to be a bird motif.
Mudjur (also spelled Mucur), is a town in the Kırşehir Province of Central Anatolia, Turkey. Typically, it dates back to the 18th or 19th century, although precise dating can vary. These rugs reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Anatolian region and the historical trading routes that brought diverse influences into Turkish weaving traditions.
Rug weaving in dates back to ancient times, with evidence of sophisticated textile arts during the Byzantine and Seljuk periods. The arrival of the Turks in Anatolia brought new techniques and styles. Rug weaving flourished and diversified during the Ottoman Empire (1299-1922). Each region developed distinct styles, with Mudjur becoming known for its unique patterns and high-quality craftsmanship.
