Naive Halvi Bidjar Rug, Late 1800 s
Located in Milwaukee, WI
Naive Halvi Bijar Mystical Energy-Filled Art from the Spiritually Connected Weavers About: One of my All-time favorite pieces ever - for the rug nerds, collectors, and lovers out there - you know there is something mystical and special about the true wool-on-wool bidjars woven by some of the most resilient and creative weavers of all time. Not only the people, but the rugs themselves are so nomadic given that their materials are organic wool pile and foundation along with the most vivid and natural dyes. Insanely unique variations of pale blues that shift a tad darker or light and then to a blue-green with pops of sunflower yellows and nice rich yet mature reds. The size alone puts this into the turn of the century category, and then the naive deconstructed Water Garden, or Herati, design seems to keep the eyes guessing and the soul happy. You can tell this piece was woven from pure imagination with no template or planning - just sitting down and weaving a magical textile that most likely took 6-12 months and possibly alongside family creating this divine and energy-filled beauty together! This is the epitome and splendor of antique rugs and old-world village art!! Size: 5.10 x 10.3 Age: Antique C. Late 1800...
