About the Item
This is a beautiful 12 inch high handmade, hand-carved old wooden Folk Art birds house handmade in great detail with two pairs of carved and painted birds sitting atop the bird house . It is a remarkable example of outsider art by here to unknown artist, A O Morgan from West Virginia.
It was hand finished using a decades old early American Folk Art form called wood burning "pyrography"
Signed: it is pencil signed on bottom: made by A O Morgan RFD 1 Box 36a, Ronciverte, W. Va .
Dimensions: 12 inches square x 4 inches in depth.

History of the Pyrography:
py·rog·ra·phy pi'rägrfe noun is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point. Pyrography was particular popular during the last quarter of the 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century

About the artist:
The bold Folk Art sculptress and ceramist Eva Fritz-Lindner (1933-2017) studied at the Werkkunstschule Wiesbaden and Darmstadt and was a master student in the sculptor class by Erich Kuhn.
From 1955 she worked as a master designer at the Staatliche Majolika-Manufaktur Karlsruhe where she created and designed several hundred highly regarded ceramic folk art animal sculptures...
