A scarce Gustavian Period (1772-1809) country Swedish farmhouse hand carved pine rocking cradle / bassinet for decorative use only (today, it could be repurposed as a wonderful firewood kindling shuttle / log holder / fireplace accessory, open top blanket chest, planter flower box, laundry bin, or large doll rocker, to give just a few ideas) Hand-crafted in Sweden at the turn of the late 18th / early 19th century, high quality primitive Scandinavian craftsmanship, presenting with visible dovetail and pegged mortise joinery, solid wood construction, having sculptural shaped rails, cutout handles, stepped contoured ogee molding, plank boarded bottom, resting on demilune rockers, with beautifully aged warm rustic patina. circa 1790 Dimensions: (approx) 21.25" High, 35.25" Long, 29" Wide **Please note, because this is an antique and does not have any modern safety features or testing, this is not intended for a child and being sold for decorative use only** A remarkable example, museum quality, in great original antique condition. Presents well, enhanced by nicely aged patina over the whole. Retaining original antique character and charm throughout, organically distressed with worn smooth finish, evidence of very old woodworm pinholes, expected wear consistent with age and use. Delivered cleaned, waxed, ready for decorative use. A wonderful addition to any lodge, rustic cabin, country cottage or old farm house, sure to add sophisticated antique character, elegant warmth, and old world European charm to any space!
