About the Item
Beautiful gilt touches and an intricate carved theme with griffins and other mythical creatures from heraldry make this wall hangar reminiscent of a dramatic opening from Game of Thrones. It is whimsical in design to our modern eyes--with four half-eagle, half-lion griffins. This beautiful piece came from an auction of a Santa Barbara estate. Unique and collectible. It is a coat hangar or could be used to hang other items. The style is antique Rococo revival out of carved pine for this parcel gilt coat hanger
It is in the European taste and probably England, late 19th Century
The rectangular panel with egg and dart border with relief-carved center with stylized flowers flanked by "gryffons rampant," issuing four hooks and centering a carved handle. The back with modern hangers.
Dimensions: 4 1/2 inches high, 31 1/2 inches long
There are two vintage hooks for installing the hangar.
