About the Item

Beautiful hand-carved wooden work in high relief by Belgian woodcarver Lucien Janssens (1933-2024). This unique piece from 1989 shows an atmospheric rural scene, with a shepherd, his dog and animals in a wooded area. It embodies the values of tradition, community and craftsmanship, and contributes to the heritage of Belgian folk art. Janssens, a passionate woodcarver, set up a studio where he practiced this craft with others. His work is detailed, realistic and inspired by European folk art.
