About the Item

Finely crafted Japanese Zushi (portable Buddhist shrine) that features a delicately carved standing Buddhist figure housed within a black lacquered cabinet with hinged doors. The shrine retains its original giltwood interior, lotus-form pedestal, and decorative metal mounts, all exhibiting a warm, authentic patina developed over centuries of devotional use. The restrained scale and refined workmanship indicate the shrine was intended for personal devotion or travel. Today, antique zushi shrines are prized for their spiritual presence and sculptural beauty. They work well as accents in a study, library, meditation room, or alongside Asian art or religious artifacts.
