About the Item
A beautiful Austrian 1960s - 1970s carved wood bird lot, polychrome painted, wire feet, wooden base all with glass eyes. These are made in the style of the antique wooden Viechtauer Area Birds.
The tradition of these in Austria called "Viechtauer" birds goes back to the early 19th century when unemployment was increasing in the alp regions and people began to carve toys and decoration pieces to survive their hard life.
This is a beautiful folkart collectible to display at a shelf in the hallway, house or Lodge. Found at an Estate sale in Vienna, Austria.
