Relief Woodcarving by Hermann Steiner Meran 19th century The wooden carved relief shows a grandfather with grandson on his lap. The granddaughter is sitting on the chair and hides a ball from her brother. Executed by the famous woodcarver Hermann Steiner, Meran circa 1900. With carved signature: "Herm. Steiner". Measures: Width: 11.81" (30.0cm) Height: 15.16" (38.5cm) The tradition of wood carving, using manual skills to make everyday objects and fine art sculptures, is found throughout Europe.
