About the Item

A set of five hand-turned objects from the mid-century era. Crafted from richly figured curly birch, showcasing the warmth and complexity of one of Finland’s most treasured native materials. The group includes a small footed bowl, a rounded vase, a lidded box, a low bowl, and a shallow dish. Each piece is individually shaped and polished to reveal the natural flame-like patterning characteristic of curly birch. Made by Finnish artisans between the 1950s and 1970s, these objects represent the intersection of folk tradition and modernist simplicity, combining skilled craftsmanship with honest materials. One piece bears the mark “Puusepänliike Simo Korhonen,” a Finnish carpentry workshop of the era, while the others are unsigned but clearly made within the same handmade tradition. Together they form a harmonious set of organic forms and glowing honey tones - ideal for display on a shelf, sideboard, or desk, adding a touch of authentic Nordic craftsmanship to any interior. • Height 2-11 cm, Ø 6-14 cm • Material: Curly birch (visakoivu) • Maker: Finnish artisans • Period: 1950s–1970s • Made in Finland • Excellent vintage condition - light, age-consistent wear and beautiful natural patina
