About the Item
A stunning and rare artist proof (42/50) by renowned artist Yankel Ginzburg, this acrylic lucite mezuzah is a mesmerizing fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry. The sculptural design features vibrant screen-printed Hebrew characters and Torah script, layered within a striking prism of color and light. The intricate interplay of Jewish symbolism, bold geometric patterns, and reflective surfaces creates a dynamic visual effect, making it a true statement piece.
Signed by the artist, this exceptional limited-edition work masterfully bridges the spiritual essence of the mezuzah with Ginzburg's signature modern aesthetic. Displayed elegantly on its custom lucite stand, this piece is not only a testament to Jewish heritage but also a collector’s gem for lovers of fine Judaic art.
Yankel Ginzburg, an internationally recognized artist, philanthropist, and political activist, was born in 1945 in Kazakhstan and the grandson of famous Soviet General Marshal Zhukov. The family, Jewish on his mother’s side, emigrated to Israel in 1957, where he graduated from the Tel Aviv Academy of Art, before becoming a United States citizen in 1968.
Working in multiple media, including painting, tapestry, and acrylic sculpture, Ginzburg has completed numerous major public commissions including a floor-to-ceiling tapestry, Freedom Road for the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; a monumental sculpture The Invisible Hand located in Tampa, Florida, and a monumental sculpture to commemorate the 1991 Democratic Revolution commissioned by Boris Yeltsin.

A Modern Mezuzah Case made by Chava Wolpert Richard in New York Circa 1970.
Chava Wolpert Richard was an artist who dedicated her career to the creation of Jewish ceremonial art. Growing up in the shadow of her father, Ludwig Yehuda Wolpert — one of the most influential innovators of modern Judaica of the twentieth century — she soon carved out her own career and came to be recognized as an artist in her own right.
Richard brought several innovative practices to the art of Judaica. For example, her mezuzah cases of the early 1960s were made of aluminum coated with phenolic.
This Mezuzah case is one of the classic examples of the modernistic designs. Reverse and rounded sides are made of aluminum and the front center is coated with phenolic. The front black panel fits smoothly into its rounded sides where a mezuzah scroll...
