About the Item

Large vintage Santos doll, a "lay figure" or mannequin with moving parts, made of resin and metal. This doll represents the Virgin Mary and is a nice collector's item from the mid- to late 20th century. Similar statues were used in the Baroque period as interior decoration or as religious art. These figures were also often used by artists such as painters and sculptors to depict the proportions and parts of the human body. The doll can be placed in different positions, allowing the human model to be replaced. The head is removable. This vintage doll is in good vintage condition, though not entirely perfect. One finger is broken off, and there is a chip on the edge of the right foot. It has signs of age and use consistent with its age and material. Please see the photos for more details!
