Antique Indian Embroidered Kantha Cloth
Indian kantha cloths originally developed as a way in which old sari cloth could be recycled and put to use. They’re usually composed of 3-4 layers of cotton cloth, with colorful patterns intricately embroidered through the cloth, sometimes figural but often vibrant geometric designs or floral patterns. This example is particularly dense, with stitched embroidery covering the entire surface the cloth.
