These large spiral brass earrings, crafted from a single thick brass wire are called 'Padung', a type of earring worn by the Batak Karo Tribe from northern Sumatra, Indonesia. This large low grade silver
brass spiral earring are completely solid, due to their heavyweight, these earrings are usually attached to a headdress so as not to tear the earlobe. The 'Padung' Earrings are worn by married women.
