Dark wood mask from the Bete peoples, with curving moustache, curling tusks by mouth, and curved horns on top. Open mouth with tongue and metal tacks, Ivory Coast, Africa. Good dark patina and oxidized tacks from traditional tribal use. 11 1/4 inches high ex Southern California collection, ex C. M. Fearing, Santa Barbara, CA. Created mid 20th century or earlier, by an unknown artist of the Bete people of Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire)
