From Papua New Guinea an early painted Maprik carved wood head sculpture or mask, intense expression showing teeth, and two opposing stylized birds on top. Mid 20th century. Faded polychrome pigments with yellow, white, black and red. Mask is 10 3/4 inches high, on custom wood base total height 13 1/2 inches. ex private collection Southwest, collected by Ron Perry.
