About the Item

This is a very simple but fine example of a ritual stool from the Ewe people of the Volta region of Ghana . Carved from ritually chosen wood representing longevity and strength. The Stool would have been carved for a small Royal lady . Given the seat height of 13 cm it could possibly have been carved for a young girl acting as a Queen Mothers escort. The stool itself is versatile and would maked a nice kitchen fruit bowl or simply used as a very low seat. There is a small local.repair on irs underside detailed in the photographs only adding to the authenticity of the piece .
