A genuine statue from Papua New Guinea depicting a meternity (child on shoulders) The Sepik are a people who live along the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. The peoples who bear the name Sepik form the main cultures of all of Papua New Guinea. The Sepik are various groups of hunters and gatherers and woodworkers. More than 250 different languages are spoken and the life of the Sepik is mainly played out around and in the river. This statue is finely carved with patina of tribal origin and age from the middle of the 20th century Good condition Height 29cm
