About the Item
The Grebo Tribe reside in Southeast Liberia near the border of the Ivory Coast. Picasso once owned a Mask of this type and it undoubtedly figured in his emerging Modern style. In the form of an elongated abstract face with shaped white painted top and cylindrical knobs along the sides. Holes for nostrils above carved pursed lips, holes along the top edge. Carved raised oval for original attachment on the back.
Dimensions: 10 1/4" L, 4" D, 26" H
Condition: Please see detail photos. Various expected signs of age include wear to the paint, some chips to the wood front and back being mentioned for accuracy as the presentation is powerful and artistic.
