About the Item
This is a very fine Chiefs robe from the Guro people of Cote d'Ivoire on the coast of West Africa. Woven from high quality hand spun cotton and all natural indigo. Whilst dating from the late 19th century the piece has a contemporary feel with extensive geometric design borders representing the people of the village and 8 central geometric blocks representing the Chiefs wives . The piece is in exceptonal condition . The piece would make a dramatic wall hanging or spectacular bed throw.
