About the Item
This is a very fine Horseman's Tunic from the Hausa people of Niger . Woven from hard wearing handspun cotton and all natural indigo dyes . This robe would be worn by horseriders of the Chiefs bodyguard. Each horseman has his own crest indicated on the front of the tunic.
This fine piece will date from the mid 20th century and comes from an old French collection. The piece can easily be worn and would fit XL size .
