About the Item

Kenya tribal wood headrest, stylized natural animal form, early 20th century, African. Early Rendille or Borana Headrest from Kenya. Using naturally found branch connections to form a stylized three legged animal form, these headrests were a treasured personal item. This headrest has heavy wear and polish from being used for many years creating a great patina, and the eroded top reflects this age. Great sculpture from all angles with some sense of animal form. Measures: 6 x 10 x 9 inches. Provenance, old CA state collection.
