About the Item
This is a very rare stool from the renowned carver Sikire Kembere of the Lobi people of Burkina Faso . The stool is in the traditional form of three legs and Janus heads one male and one female . This form of Janus stool was only carved for high ranking individuals .
Both heads are crowned with a poker work crest to denote their status .
Sikire Kembire is one of the most documented carvers in Lobi history and worked from the early to mid 20th century.
The stool bears his signature of two geomeric slants just at the neck of the two heads.
Aswell as being collectable this is a very decorative piece.
