About the Item
Impressively carved from a single block of wood, this monumental male spirit or ancestor figure originates from the Middle Sepik region of Papua New Guinea.
The figure combines strong sculptural presence with ceremonial significance. Its oversized mask-like face, deep insisted patterns and abstract body motifs point
to its use within a ritual context, possibly as a guardian figure marking the threshold of a spirit house. The figure stands firmly on a carved semi-oval base, enhancing
its stability and ceremonial stature. Unrestored original condition with visible signs of age and ritual use. No modern repairs or overpainting. For interiors that tell stories, this
oversized tribal sculpture becomes an immediate focal point in any architectural space - a presence that speaks of ritual, history and timeless power.
