Authentic Pende mask from Democratic Republic of the Congo. Panya ngombe, the anthropo-zoomorphic face with elongated slit eyes, short overhanging forehead, slender nose, and carved, rectangular mouth. Triangular designs around periphery. Provenance: early 20th century Republic of Congo, collection Ann De Pauw and Luc Huysveld.
