About the Item
Time honored texture and form define this Senufo sculptural object. The abstract etchings were achieved through a process known as scarification. The artisan meticulously traced and retraced their patterns on the copper surface to create the defined ridges. Hinged and fastened with a clasp over the wrist, a woman of status used this bracelet as both ceremonial accessory and as an expression of her wealth.
