About the Item

This type of shield was used to deflect the strike of sticks or whips in ritual staged fights.Beautifully made from hide and natural fibers with a textural and timeless modern form. The handle is attached with wicker stitching. Some fiber losses.

Conical leather and straw tribal Fulani hat, Mali West Africa Folk Art organic fiber hat with leather applications that comes from the Fulani people in West Africa. It is typically worn by the Wodaabe, a nomadic cattle-herder subgroup of the Fulani.
