About the Item
Large pendant lamp designed by Adolf Meyer in the 1920s for IKON Zeiss, Germany. Model JG 53 features a bulb-shaped glass shade with mirrored interior, embodying Bauhaus principles of functional industrial design. The entire shade takes the form of an oversized spotlight bulb with vertical ribbing throughout the clear glass.
Steel hanging loop at crown provides mounting. The mirrored interior creates dramatic light reflection while the geometric glass form demonstrates the material honesty central to Bauhaus design philosophy.
Shows character consistent with age and use. Steel loop may vary between individual lamps as these were added for hanging functionality.
