About the Item
1940’s Racing Green Cast Top GEC Enamelled Pendant Lamps – Pair.
GEC, or The General Electric Company, had a significant history in the development of lighting in Britain. Founded in 1886, it was a major electrical component manufacturer and a large supplier of lighting for various applications, including industrial, commercial, and even street lighting. Made from spun and enamelled steel with intricate cast aluminium tops. The lamps were covered in paint, grease and dirt which was removed to reveal lamps in exceptional original condition. Each lamp has been cleaned and restored and all electrical components have been removed and replaced with modern European CE standard components to BS EN 60598. Each lamp is individually tested and labelled to BS EN 60598. INCLUDED: Each lamp comes completely wired and ready to install including; 2 metres of chain for hanging the lamps, 2 metres of black silk covered electrical cable and a ceiling hook as shown. The lamp is fitted with a standard E27 threaded lamp holder for which a wide range of modern and vintage style filament bulbs are widely available. We do not currently sell bulbs and recommend LED bulbs 6W maximum. We can also supply more than 2 metres of hanging cable/wire/chain etc as required, please contact us separately to discuss. We are specialists in refurbishment of vintage lighting, please contact us with any questions regarding purchase or installation. The lamp is currently wired and fitted for UK and EU compliance. The lamp can be wired for compliance in the US or any global market.
Workshop Report:
We take electrical safety very seriously, our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that every lamp leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. Each lamp has been cleaned and restored and all original electrical components have been removed and replaced with modern European CE standard components to BS EN 60598. Each lamp is individually tested and labelled to BS EN 60598. Each lamp comes completely wired.
