About the Item

An elegant Murano glass pendant lamp attributed to Luciano Vistosi, from the celebrated Zenda series, exemplifying the poetic modernism of postwar Italian lighting design. The pendant is formed of softly draped opaline glass, its bell-shaped silhouette articulated by fluid, wave-like contours that gather and release light with sculptural subtlety. A cobalt-blue finish delicately traces the undulating rim, providing a crisp visual accent against the luminous white glass. The Zenda design reflects Vistosi’s mastery of glass as both material and form—balancing technical innovation with an organic, almost textile-like softness. When illuminated, the opaline glass emits a warm, diffuse glow, while the blue-edged rim adds definition and depth, creating a striking interplay of light and line. Luciano Vistosi (1931–2010) was a central figure in 20th-century Murano glass design and a member of one of Venice’s most important glassmaking families. Working both independently and in collaboration with leading firms such as Vistosi Murano, he helped redefine Italian lighting in the 1950s–1970s, moving away from heavy ornamentation toward refined, modern forms that emphasized purity of line and technical excellence. His work is represented in museum collections worldwide and remains highly sought after by collectors of Italian modern design. This pendant is suspended from original-style hardware and is well suited for use over a dining table, in an entry hall, or as a sculptural focal point in a modern interior. Dimensions of Glass: 14 in. H × 16 in. diameter Condition: Good condition. No issues to note. Glass is clean and intact. Includes hanging hardware. Provenance: A Private Collection: 585 West End Avenue, New York
