Fine antique French 19th century Neoclassical gilt bronze and cut crystal eleven light chandelier 19th Century Height: 34 inches Diameter: 22.5 inches Superbly detailed gilded bronze elements, especially striking when illuminated. Fine original canopy composed of a circular laurel leaf border with stylized Neoclassical foliate, palm frond and capital designs. Waterfall crystal body with three interior lights for dramatic impact, with a circular laurel leaf gilded bronze center with eight arms of finely hand chiselled gilt bronze and ending in three concentric tiered rings of hand cut crystal icicle drops. Original period chandeliers in this highly desirable style are quite rare. The quality of bronze is outstanding with well defined details, hand cut crystal elements and beautifully balanced proportions. The fine antique crystal has an elegant silvery tone which is especially beautiful when paired with gilded bronze. This chandelier features eight arms which were originally created for candles and are now wired for electricity and an additional three lights on the interior which provide striking illumination.
