About the Item

Refined and beautifully composed, this 20th-century French chandelier is a striking example of Directoire Revival style—where neoclassical clarity meets understated elegance. Its graceful proportions and restrained ornamentation reflect the architectural purity of late 18th-century French design, interpreted through a 20th-century lens. The dark patinated metal frame is structured yet delicate, forming a tall central cage that descends into eight elegantly curved arms. Each arm holds a faux candle sleeve with a wax-drip effect, enhancing the authenticity of the piece and evoking the charm of old-world lighting. At the base of each candle holder sits a finely cut crystal bobeche, catching and reflecting light in all directions. Suspended throughout the frame are meticulously faceted crystal drops and elongated pendalogues, paired with strands of hand-cut crystal beads that drape in elegant garlands. These elements create a play of light and shadow that changes throughout the day, offering both sparkle and softness. The upper corona is adorned with smaller, delicate crystal rosettes and teardrops that lend a sense of verticality and balance.
