20th Century Magnificent Empire Victoria Chandelier after Pierre Philippe Thomire
Exceptionally beautiful, engraved and cast bronze. Basket-shaped body made of hand-cut French spherical prisms (over 3,600 pieces). Connected by a broad, ornamentally carved and openwork relief. From this, three fully formed, self-contained figures (Victoria) carry a bowl in outstretched hands and on their heads, with three full, horn-shaped, light arms. A crown-shaped finial is attached. Design by Charles Percier, a French architect of the Empire style, which represented a form of classicism under Napoleon.
