AlexAllen Studio is an architecture and design studio founded in 2013 by Alexandra Burr and Allen Slamic. From their studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn they focus on architecture projects and design and manufacture contemporary lighting, furniture and objects. The Hood Family is inspired by wooden sailboats and the work of Aino Aalto. Thin sheets of polyethylene are die cut and bent, joining narrow spines of white oak to create the hooded shade.
