Rare 8-Light Modular Fixture by Peter Rockel from the Palace of the Republic, East Berlin (1975) This rare 8-light modular chandelier was designed by Peter Rockel in 1975 for the Palace of the Republic in East Berlin, a landmark of East-era architecture. Manufactured by Kombinat Leuchtenbau, the fixture is a prime example of socialist modernism—combining bold geometry with refined materials to create a visually arresting and historically rich lighting piece. The chandelier features a chrome-plated metal frame with a modular grid structure, supporting eight hand-blown bubbled glass globes that offer a warm, diffused glow. Its strong architectural form and graphic presence make it ideal as a sculptural centerpiece in both residential and commercial interiors. Condition: Very good vintage condition. The glass globes are in excellent shape, free of cracks or chips. The metal frame shows authentic patina and light signs of wear, consistent with age and use, adding to its vintage character. The fixture has been professionally rewired and cleaned, and is fitted with a porcelain E27 socket. It is compatible with international standards (US, UK, EU, etc.) and is LED compatible.
