About the Item
This antique hanging lamp, dating to around 1920, is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau lighting design. The shade is composed of richly colored slag glass in tones of amber and green, producing a warm, inviting glow when illuminated. An ornate openwork metal overlay in flowing botanical motifs frames each panel, adding both structural detail and artistic refinement.
The crown of the shade features a pierced decorative band, while the scalloped lower edge enhances its organic character. Suspended by a chain and canopy, the lamp retains its early 20th century charm and would have originally been a statement piece in a parlor, dining room, or entryway. The craftsmanship reflects the period’s fascination with nature-inspired forms and richly decorative surfaces.
The lamp remains in nice antique condition, consistent with age and normal use. The slag glass panels are intact, showing vivid color and natural striations, while the metalwork has developed a mellow patina.
