About the Item

A usual antique continental Louis XVI Style cut crystal and metal multi-light chandelier. The chandelier is structured with a central glass stem issuing cascading strings of faceted crystal drops, suspended from a scalloped glass canopy. The frame is arranged in two tiers, with a circular gallery set with faceted crystal rosettes and rectangular prism-form crystals. Six scrolled crystal arms extend outward from the lower section, each supporting a candle-form light fitted with drip pans and bobeches hung with cut crystal prisms. Additional festoons of octagonal crystal beads connect the arms, terminating in large teardrop pendants, while the chandelier’s underside is finished with a faceted glass sphere. The chandelier’s body is composed of a metal frame clad in mirrored glass and cut crystal elements, mounted with beaded crystal chains and pendant drops throughout. The design incorporates traditional Louis XVI motifs, notably the symmetrical arrangement of arms, the circular band enriched with crystal rosettes, and the suspended cut-glass ornaments arranged in concentric layers. The frame’s silvered finish provides a reflective surface that enhances the brilliance of the cut crystal when illuminated.
