About the Item

An Antique Russian Neoclassical Balloon Form Silvered Bronze and Crystal Chandelier of Superb Design and Craftsmanship. The chandelier features a monumental cage-like structure composed of silvered bronze ribs intricately lined with cut glass rods and crystal beads. Its elegant balloon-shaped frame tapers toward the top and bottom, forming a balanced and symmetrical silhouette. The chandelier is embellished with numerous graduated strands of cut crystal prisms arranged in vertical and circular sequences, each prism precision-cut to capture and refract light effectively. The upper section displays arched bronze branches supporting circular crystal basket tiers hung with faceted drops, adding further depth and volume to the design. The central body incorporates a complex arrangement of ribbed silvered bronze bands connected with crystal rods and festoons, creating a lattice-like pattern that defines the chandelier’s architectural precision. Around the perimeter, eight candle-form light arms extend outward, each mounted with acanthus-decorated bronze cups and draped with additional crystal pendants.
