About the Item
- A beautiful tulip shaped diffused opaline ceiling pendant made by Sunglow, England circa 1930. - Opaline glass shade incorporating the original and rarely present glass diffuser to the underneath, the dish is stamped to the inside rim with makers mark. Above the glass, a hooked monks cap gallery on short stem.
- Height 41cm, Width 28cm, Depth 28cm, Gallery Height 11cm.
- Rewired with dark brown braided flex, PAT tested.
Opaline Glass Opaline is a form of decorative glassware which was made throughout the 19th century, manufacture was predominantly French, although it was inspired by Venetian Milk Glass, and White Glass produced in Bristol. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and various locations across in England were involved in their production. The opaline glass is characterised by a bright white colour, the high lead content defined it as crystal like, giving it jewel-like qualities across its appearance.
