About the Item
- An original and rare Bauhaus opaline brass ceiling pendant, Germany circa 1930.
- The pendant consists of an opaline shaped body and lower dish, held together by a decorative brass band.
- Beautiful unusual design reminiscent of Peter Behrens and of great quality, in an incredible condition for its age, comes with original gallery.
- Height 42cm, Width 25cm, Depth 25cm.
- Rewired in dark brown braided flex and PAT tested.
Opaline Glass Opaline is a form of decorative glassware which was made throughout the 19th century, manufacture was predominantly French, although it was inspired by Venetian Milk Glass, and White Glass produced in Bristol. The popularity of Opaline glass began during the reign of Napoleon and various locations across in England were involved in their production. The opaline glass is characterised by a bright white colour, the high lead content defined it as crystal like, giving it jewel-like qualities across its appearance.
