About the Item
This exquisite ceiling lamp, dating from the 1930s, is a stunning representation of the Art Deco movement in Italian design. It embodies the era's focus on luxurious materials, stylized forms, and fine craftsmanship.
The central element of the lamp is a captivating, elongated glass shade with a gently tapering, inverted bell or urn shape. This glass features a beautiful "pulegoso" or controlled bubble effect, where numerous small air bubbles are intentionally suspended within the glass, creating a unique, textured, and diffused light quality. The glass is held within an ornate, decorative frame crafted from polished brass.
The brass frame features stylized, sweeping scrollwork and delicate, curled finials that evoke the streamlined elegance and decorative flair of the Art Deco period. The frame is supported by a brass stem leading to the ceiling mount. The combination of the heavy, decorative brass and the translucent, textured glass creates a striking visual contrast that is characteristic of high-quality early 20th-century Italian lighting.
