About the Item

This elegant Art Deco pendant chandelier, designed by Pierre D'Avsen in France circa 1930, is a masterpiece of the Machine Age aesthetic, blending sleek industrial materials with luxurious craftsmanship. With frosted and etched glass elements paired with sleek and minimal nickel fittings, this chandelier exemplifies the refined geometry and streamlined forms that define the Art Deco style. The chandelier features a stunning frosted and etched round glass diffuser resting above six flanged transparent and etched glass panels that curve downwards towards a central frosted and fluted molded glass diffuser. The side panels are adorned with stylized and deeply etched geometric patterns and subtle motifs that echo the bold lines and angles characteristic of the period. The glass not only diffuses light beautifully, creating a soft and atmospheric glow, but also serves as an artistic focal point in a space. The piece is suspended and framed by nickel fittings, which complement the cool tones of the frosted glass and lend the fixture a polished, metallic elegance. The use of nickel, a material favored in Machine Age design for its sleek and modern appearance, makes the chandelier a timeless addition to any interior. Six rods suspend the fixture, rising alongside one another to a tightly contained canopy, with skyscraper detailing that emerges downwards within the array of rods. Perfectly scaled for a variety of spaces, this chandelier is ideal for dining rooms, foyers, or living areas seeking a touch of vintage sophistication. Whether placed in a strictly Art Deco-inspired setting or paired with contemporary décor, the chandelier adds refinement, glamour, and an air of historical significance. Newly rewired to American Standards and with height that can be adjusted to suit, this chandelier accommodates three candelabra based bulbs achieving up to 180 watts of light.
