About the Item

A sensational and high quality French 19th century Belle Epoque Period Louis XV st. Ormolu and Patinated Bronze chandelier. This stunning eighteen light chandelier is centered at the bottom by a charming inverted foliate finial below the varying levels of split Ormolu arms. Each of the eighteen arms are richly decorated with scrolled acanthus leaves, circular pierced foliate saucers, and candle cups with swaging floral garlands. The arms split into two as they lead to the electrified candles and are decorated with masculine masks at the center. Above the Ormolu cage are charming open winged patinated Bronze cherubs holding the Urn of Prosperity with a Ormolu eternal flame. At the top are finely detailed Rams heads with laurel wreaths in their mouths, all below the top acanthus leaf sprays.
